The First Ever JPF Online Coaching Scholarship Contest

The year was 2012, and Gangnam Style was taking over the world, while 50 Shades of Grey was turning it on.

That summer was particularly transformative for me. I was a little less than a year into my own personal fitness journey. I was soaking in all the wisdom of John Romaniello, learning everything I could from the writings of Martin Berkhan, practicing intermittent fasting, and lifting some heavy-ass weight.

All in all, I had probably lost about 20-30 pounds at this point, and was feeling pretty good about what I was doing. Summer, however, was the busy time at my job, and I knew that it had potential to really derail my progress.

See, at the time, I worked for a baseball team. Our season wasn’t that long, just two and a half months, but we had 35 home games during that time. And on those days, I’d be putting in ten, eleven, and sometimes even twelve hour days at the ballpark, surrounded by burgers, brats, hot dogs, cheese curds, nachos, ice cream, and so much more.

Needless to say, it was pretty difficult to follow a proper training and nutrition program, given my schedule.

I knew I needed to do something to try and keep me on track. After all, this was the first time in my life that I actually had seen progress trying to lose weight; I couldn’t give it up.

Having been immersed in the online fitness world for a while, I decided to reach out to Andy Morgan of rippedbody.com, who I had found while in my search to learn more about intermittent fasting.

Andy’s website was incredibly detailed, and did an amazing job of breaking down Berkhan’s Leangains protocol. I knew Andy was the guy I wanted to work with at the time, so I filled out an app, and off we were.

Online Coaching: Beyond the Diet

I knew I had made the right choice. Andy put together a great training program, nutrition plan, and provided great guidance.

Looking back now, almost five years later, I realize I probably wasn’t the best client. I certainly let my rough schedule get in the way of my program many times. I saw some progress, but not what I wanted; not like the transformation photos of clients Andy had all over his site.

But I went through my three months in the program, learned quite a bit, and moved on to other things. But what I didn’t realize at the time was that that three month experience set the foundation for one of the biggest decisions of my life.

Life Changing and Changing Lives

Fast forward to April 2015. By this time I had lost about 80 pounds since I started my fitness journey, and was no longer working in baseball. In fact, I was now a fitness coach myself.

I had only been in the online coaching world a few months, and had only worked with a handful of clients, so I was still pretty green. In an effort to expand my knowledge and network, I got my ass to the 2015 Fitness Summit.

Walking into the hotel was pretty surreal. Here, all around me, were coaches and trainers that I had been following and reading for years…and I was standing among them as a peer.

I looked around, and standing near the elevator was Andy. It had been a few years since we had any contact, so I went right up to him and introduced myself, since we had never actually met in person.

I could tell Andy didn’t remember me right away, but after a minute I saw his eyes light up and his smile widen. I don’t remember exactly what he said, but I believe the phrase, “Holy shit” was part of it, when Andy commented on how much weight I lost.

The next day, Andy comes up to me with the first client picture I sent him when we worked together. I hadn’t actually looked at a picture of my former self in a long time, so I was pretty shocked.

Andy then asked if we could take a picture together so he could post them both on Facebook. I said of course!

As we took the picture, I thought to myself how cool it would be to someday know that I helped impact somebody’s life, and gave them the spark they needed to make their own transformation, like Andy did for me.

Why I Love Online Coaching

What spoke to me about online coaching as a client is also what drew me to it as a coach…that and being able to train clients in my underwear.

First, it’s not dependent on location. You could live next door to me, a few states away, in a different country, or in a van down by the river, as long as you have internet access, we can work together.

Second, online coaching is significantly less expensive, and is a much better value. Average trainer rates can be between $75-100/hour, with the best trainers commanding upwards of $300 per hour.

Obviously, you’re not going to get much out of a personal trainer only meeting with them a few times, so if you want results, you’d have to spend thousands of dollars a month working with a trainer in person. And frankly, not many people can afford that.

Enter in online coaching, where that $300/hour rate turns into $300/month instead, and all of a sudden you open the door to a much wider range of clientele.

Online coaching also offers a lot better value for that $300. Not only do you get multiple workout programs each week, you also get nutritional guidance, which is not something you often get with in-person coaching.

Lastly, and probably the biggest reason I love working with clients online, is they tend to work harder, stay more compliant, and thus, get better results.

The reason for this is people who hire an online coach aren’t looking for someone to sit in the gym with them and count reps. They’re looking for someone to keep them accountable, on track, and give them the knowledge and tools they need to achieve the results they weren’t getting on their own.

They don’t show up to the gym because a trainer is there waiting for them. They show up because they want to be there, and they want to put in the work.

That’s why I love online coaching. So, if any and all of that sounds appealing to you, you’re definitely going to want to apply for the scholarship, which we’ll get to in a second. First, let me give you a few deets on the program…

About the JPF Online Coaching Program

My online coaching program is the best way for me to get you in the best damn shape possible; in the most convenient and affordable way possible.

Take Reg for example:

Reg came to me because he felt like he tried everything, and just couldn’t get the results he was after. He trusted the process, put in the work, and made a freaking fantastic transformation.

Which brings me to something I want to make sure you understand before we go any further…Putting together clients plans takes time. A lot of time. And I love doing it, but that’s why I only take on a certain number of clients at once.

So, the one thing that I want in return from them is that they invest their time into the program too. The time the program requires to help get them the results they want. Which is why I don’t work with just anyone. That’s why you have to apply for the program, and can’t just “join”.

I want to make sure anyone who applies is going to put in the time and effort required to get the results they want.

You’re also applying because you get a lot…stuff not everyone gets, including:

  • A custom training and nutrition plan, based on you, your abilities, equipment available, dietary preferences, work/life schedule
  • A sweet app to help you keep track of workouts, progress, and communicate with me, all in one place
  • Monthly updates to your program to help ensure you keep progressing and stay on track towards your goals
  • Constant support, feedback, and high-fives from me

So, if you’re ready to work together, awesome! But I don’t want you to apply. Not yet at least.

Because I want to tell you how you can get all of this, fo’ free.

The JPF Online Coaching Scholarship

First off, I have a confession to make…I lied.

I said I was going to be giving away a one 4-month coaching scholarship to someone looking to change their health and life.

But I’m not.

Instead, I’m going to be giving away multiple coaching scholarships. Yes, more than one.

In fact, I’m going to be giving away over $5,000 in coaching to four lucky people.

One person will win a mini two-month coaching scholarship, two people will win a standard four-month coaching scholarship, and one lucky person will win a mega eight-month scholarship for online coaching.

So yeah, sorry not sorry I lied…

The four winners will receive the complete online coaching pampering package, absolutely free, including: initial assessment of training, nutrition, lifestyle, and goals; 24/7 access to me as your coach; access to our custom coaching app; and instant sexification.

And most importantly, you get the results you’ve been after.

Now, let’s get to some logisticals…

  • The scholarship contest is 100% free to enter. No obligations on your part
  • This is the first time I’ve ever done anything like this. I don’t know if I’ll ever do it again, so this may be your only chance to win a scholarship
  • There will be two ways to enter, and you can get multiple entries into the contest by doing both
  • Winners will be randomly selected via number picker I find on the interwbz

Entering

Option 1 – Apply: Easy peasy. Just head on over to the coaching page and fill out the application at the bottom. When it asks you how you found out about the program, just put in “Scholarship, yo.” or “I’m just here for the nudes and free stuff.” or something like that.

Option 2 – Comment: Head on over to this post on my Facebook page, and comment with your answer to the question:

“What do you believe to be the single biggest factor that has kept you from achieving your fitness goals thus far?”

This is opinion, so there is no correct answer. But I want you to put some thought and feeling into it. No one and two-word answers.

How You Wins

Winners will be selected randomly, like a raffle. And you can get multiple tickets. Here’s how:

  • Applying for the program will get you one ticket into the contest.
  • Commenting on the Facebook post will get you an additional three entries into the contest

Doing both will get you a total of four entries. For a bonus 5th entry*, you can share this article on facebook by clicking the floating button on the left side of the page, or on facebook itself.

*You can’t get the entry for sharing if you don’t apply or comment as well.

Applying

  1. Go to the coaching page and fill out the application.
  2. In the field labeled “How did you hear about the coaching program?”, write “I want the scholarship.” or something similar. After I get your app, you’ll get an email from me with more information about the program.
  3. Read through the info and decide if you can commit to the program. What I mean is, if the scholarship were not available, would you still go through with the program, finances allowing.
  4. Complete this by midnight on Monday March 20th.
  5. Winners will be announced the next day.

Notables

  • I’ll say it again; I only want to work with serious people. If you would not be willing to commit yourself physically and financially without the opportunity to win free coaching, you’re probably not going to be a very good client. Sorry, but it’s the truth. I’ve been around enough to know people who are just looking for handouts aren’t great clients. Be honest about whether or not you would be willing to undertake the program without the scholarship.
  • Former clients are eligible. You don’t need to fill out the app, just email me.
  • Winners will be selected completely at random through assigned numbers.

If you don’t win the scholarship, you can still grab a spot in the program. In addition to the 4 scholarships, I’m opening up 5 spots for those who want to work with me.

But just because you didn’t win the scholarship, doesn’t mean I want to leave you out in the cold. I want to make it as easy as possible for you to make the transformation of your dreams.

I’ll be giving those who don’t win the scholarship a chance to join the program at an awesome, super special discount. Basically, it adds up to a month of free coaching when it’s all said and done.

Wrapping Up

To say online coaching (being on both sides of the coin) has changed my life would be an understatement. That’s why I decided to do this contest; to give as many people as possible the opportunity to experience the life-changing power it can have.

So if you’re ready to take yourself to the next level, fill out the coaching application, and who knows…you may be the very first winner of the JPF Coaching Scholarship contest, and take the first step towards changing your fitness, and your life.
